Uncomfortably tight fit?

Have one of these on a mountain bike, and conventional tires are almost impossible to fit on it. Just put a pair of Nokian/Suomi Mountain and Ground studded tires on, and while they fit fine on the rear wheel, the front (the one with this model rim) took nearly an hour to pry the old tire off, let alone to put the new one on. Not sure what's wrong with it, as it is advertised the same size as the rear rim, but I'd never willingly purchase one of these given my experience trying to change tires. Hope I never get a flat on the road, because I'd freeze in Wisconsin winters trying to replace it.

Incredible rim

After warping the daylights out of my front rim (hit a curb at 20 mph), I wanted to replace it with something far sturdier. This Alex rim fit the bill perfeclty. For around $20, I was genuinely surprised when I got it in the mail. Thick walls, beefy construction, all around a great rim. The hole for the valve stem was a little small for conventional Schrader valve inner tubes (i.e. what you'd buy at Wal-Mart or Kmart), but a few minutes with my pocketknife fixed that, and didn't do anything to the rim. I've been using it for about 6 months, and I couldn't be happier. The rim has embarrased the factory equipment, and although I've gone off curbs, over potholes, and even over really rock terrain while mountain biking, I haven't noticed the slightest of misalignment. When I build new wheels with new rims, spokes, and hubs, I'm going with Alex rims. Highly recommend them.
